Foundation & Spiritual Journey
Traced back to 835 AD, St. Mary’s Forane Church in Athirampuzha is one of the largest and oldest Christian pilgrim hubs in central Kerala. Though dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is world-renowned as a major shrine of St. Sebastian (Athirampuzha Punnyavan). The church preserves an ancient Portuguese granite altar, historic church bells, and three monumental stone crosses. The parish's grand January feast is famous for its cultural pageantry, fireworks displays (Vedikkettu), and the ceremonial carriage of arrows (Ambu Nercha).
"Through generations of unwavering devotion and community fellowship, our parish stands as a beacon of faith dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary."
