Overview

The National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Vallarpadam—often referred to as the "Lourdes of Kerala"—is situated on the island of Vallarpadam in the backwaters of Kochi. Under the Archdiocese of Varapoly, this pilgrimage center attracts devotees across faiths and communities seeking the intercession of the Virgin Mary, revered locally as Vallarpadathamma.

Discovered Miracles Cross

AD 52

A wooden cross carved by the hands of Saint Thomas the Apostle was miraculously discovered from the sandbanks of Mattel (Mattel Thuruth). The place where this cross was installed for veneration is known today as Kurishupura.
