Significance & Celebrations
The Annual Feast of Koratty Muthy, popularly known as the “Festival of Koratty,” is celebrated every year on the Sunday following the 10th of October, with the Octave observed on the next weekend. Preparations begin on October 1st, when the faithful gather in the church and chapels to recite the Holy Rosary with deep devotion. A solemn candlelight procession is held during the week, adding to the prayerful atmosphere.
The feast is a grand celebration that unites people across caste and creed. Processions accompanied by traditional band, drumbeats, and decorated umbrellas attract thousands of pilgrims. A striking sight is devotees crawling on their knees in prayerful surrender before Koratty Muthy. Each day features special novenas, blessings of vehicles, and devotional gatherings. Nearly 10 to 15 lakh devotees visit the shrine during these days.
